106 We are committed to ensure the occupational health and safety (OHS) of our employees, contractors, visitors and anyone who may be affected by our operations. We have a strong network of local HSE managers supported by a corporate HSE team with subject matter experts, to ensure that all the sites within our organization have access to competent support. We follow the ISO 45001 standard to design the OHS framework. We implement Health & Safety initiatives to ensure safe working conditions everywhere for our employees and contract workers. In 2023-24, we continued to engage leaders on Health & Safety matters and how they can be more involved to support their teams on improving safety. The critical steps taken to embed a culture of safety and to create ownership for safety is exemplified by the 10 commandments in R&D and the non-negotiables in the manufacturing facilities. The various functions in the manufacturing facility ranging from Production, Engineering, Warehouse operate with a safe behaviour checklist which forms the basis of daily safe operations. The behaviours are relevant for each function and help uphold safety during shift related tasks undertaken by the employees and contract workers. The behaviours range from shift handover, safe start up and shutdown, functional safety interlocks, accessible emergency equipment, spillage controls, adhering to work permit and material handling A new guideline has been created to oversee the well-being of pregnant women working in factory premises, elaborating on do’s and don’ts for expectant mothers. A checklist for pregnant women’s risks and controls needs to be completed by HSE personnel and the expectant mother to assess and implement preventive measures. Unit OHCs have a Factory Medical Officer (FMO) and a set of nurses. The staff is routinely responsible for the inspection and maintenance of first aid kits, ambulances, and antidotes/critical medicines. The activities are duly updated in the respective checklists. The OHC at the R&D facility has been revamped and expanded to accommodate employees in groups in case of emergency. The recent upgrade includes a separate consultation room for the FMO for physical examinations of employees. Additional storage space for medicines and critical equipment has been created. Medical health check-ups are carried out annually for all employees and contractors at every site.
