107 In 2023-24, we had zero fatalities across our sites. We successfully commissioned one of the production blocks at Bidar with zero incidents. The reportable incidents are first aid cases across the R&D and manufacturing facilities put together. The sites are encouraging contract workers and employees to report near miss incidents as way of involving shopfloor teams in safety. The reporting is increasing and is encouraging. We investigated 29 high potential near miss incidents which is guiding improvement actions. The near misses are process safety incidents like loss of primary containment and predominantly slip, trip and fall potential incidents in workplace safety. Stress Management: Our organization has partnered with “Silver Oak health” on Employee Well-being Assistance Program (EWAP) to promote mental health and conduct stress management sessions. These programs mainly include engaging employees in basic work shops where important insights are shared to employees on time management, being mindfulness at workplace, mental wellbeing sessions. A counsellor is always available on a 24 x 7 helpline number for consulting at any personal and or professional problems. Site HR is actively involved in organizing employee engagement activities to separate them from regular job roles and relieve the stress, these activities involve yoga, meditation, Zumba sessions, fun activities and festival celebrations. Noise control measures: Employees are regularly trained on noise induced hearing losses due to long term exposure to high noise. The sites area identified and mapped with high noise areas; these areas are equipped with suitable PPEs required for working in these identified areas. Most of the high noise areas are having high noise control preventive measures, such as acoustic enclosures, vibration analysis of moving parts of equipment, preventive maintenance of equipment. Apart from engineering and administrative controls, Ambient noise monitoring levels is conducted at all areas, comparing them to industrial standards and escalating the abnormalities for timely rectification. The annual medical examination of employees also involve Audiometry periodic medical examination and the records are maintained. Personal consultations are also provided where abnormality if found in hearing abilities. Precautions on handling of hazardous chemicals: One of the most classified hazardous materials used at our sites are pyrophoric by nature, these chemicals have a characteristic of self-reacting when in contact with air to produce heat. These require very specialized storage, handling, dispensing and disposal due to their acute hazardous characteristics. Specific checklists are prepared for handling of pyrophoric chemicals with process safety and R&D recommendations. These include information of basic hazards of chemicals, general and specialized PPEs requirements, basic facilities like spill control kits, fire extinguishers, training to employees on handling, mandatory requirements of facilities such as inertization of handling equipments, minimum number of cycles of inertization required for equipments, required temperatures, pressures, and need of utilities such as chilled water, Nitrogen, paraffin oil set up in equipment vents. All these checkpoints in the checklists are filled and ensured before handling/ dispensing / disposing of the chemicals under the supervision of safety officers and experienced staff.
