118 “Thanks to the NIIT Foundation, I overcame my fear of interviews and stage fright. They taught me spoken english, basic computer skills, and interview etiquette, which gave me the confidence to pursue better job opportunities.” “I used to be afraid of interviews and struggled to pass them. After enrolling in the NIIT Foundation course, my communication skills improved greatly, and I was finally able to crack an interview. I feel more confident about my future.” “I used to work part-time for a ride-hailing company when I first heard about the NIIT Foundation course. After joining, I saw significant improvement in my skills and landed a better job, which has allowed me to support my family in a better way.” A rigorous process of community mobilisation followed by counselling was followed. The project covered 38 villages, spanning 435 kilometres, to proactively engage communities, and generate anticipation and interest in the forthcoming employment opportunities. In creating sustainable engagement, community mobilisation helps the members to get actively involved in rebuilding their community and creating a sense of hope and possibility for their future. In addition to student counselling, the NIIT Foundation team also engaged with the parents to conduct dialogue on their role in the livelihood training program. The program has helped youth (age group 17 to 28 years) with educational qualification up to secondary school. From the total enrolment, 70 % of the students completed the training and became job-ready. The top 3 sectors where the students got placement include BPO, IT/ITES and Manufacturing. Our partnership with the NIIT Foundation created a milestone as we successfully designed and provided the support to build self-reliance and resilience in youth. Student Speak
