Sai Life Sciences Sustainability Report - 2023-24

120 The LVPEI Sai Eye Hospital near our R&D facility is a free walk-in eye care facility that serves all primary eye health needs of people in the greater Shamirpet area. “Given the high population of elderly individuals in this area, our eye center’s proximity provides a tremendous benefit. It reduces the need for seniors without attendants to travel long distance. We also extend our care through check-up in nearby villages, ensuring broader access to essential eye care. “This center is close to my place, making it convenient to access. The service has been good, and the staff is very cordial. I didn’t have to travel far for my cataract surgery, which made the entire process stress-free.” We are concerned about environmental resources and the need to protect and maintain them for future generations. As these issues are complex and interconnected, we join hands with NGOs to implement practical and time-tested solutions. Making primary eyecare accessible Patient Administrator and Patient experience Environmental protection To promote water sustainability at schools we partnered with NGO, Smaran and supported rainwater harvesting, recharging ground water supplies, and mitigating flooding. In our work towards Environmental conservation, the rainwater harvesting program has been successfully installed at 6 government schools around with work at 3 more schools nearing completion. The installation approach implemented at the schools followed these methods: 1) IRW (Inverse Rainwater) Harvesting, wherein abandoned borewells were converted and repurposed to become recharging structures and working borewells (WBW) if more than 2 are available, were also converted into recharging structures 2) channeling of rooftop rainwater to borewells.
