Sai Life Sciences Sustainability Report - 2023-24

43 Our approach to product responsibility integrates quality management, process development, process safety, technology transfer and commercialisation, all of which prioritize customer health and safety. We are committed to protecting our customers from occupational injuries, illnesses, and environmental pollution by sharing necessary information. We assess health and safety risks and environmental impacts of our activities and products throughout the product lifecycle and integrate it in our customer communication. Product quality and environmental data, including safety information, are available through certificates of analysis, product labels, and safety data sheets. We ensure that our products are made entirely from synthetic materials and are free from human or animal-derived materials, including bovine products such as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE). The product label on the product container includes a batch production code for traceability of the entire manufacturing process and storage conditions. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is mandatorily sent along with the product during despatch to the customer. It is a product or chemical specific sheet that consists of 16 sections with detailed information on the product composition and potential health impact of products. It describes the use, chemical and physical properties, health hazard information, precautions for use, safe handling information and the emergency information required in case of fire or spills. A product recall procedure is in place in the event of defective, suspected, potentially harmful Quality or Safety of Product. It is to ensure the recall operations are effectively and efficiently executed. During process development, we conduct safety studies to assess risks and define appropriate control measures. We share safety assessments, including pre-startup safety review, with customers as part of the technical package. We use green chemistry in research and development to design reactions and processes with improved efficiency, reduced waste, and lower environmental impact. We have developed an in-house computational model, the Greenness Index, to track environmental indicators and include environmental impact information in the technical package.
