87 Enabling social dialogue Enabling a safe dialogue is important for building trust with our people. The following employee representative bodies are established at Sai: • Works committee is established as per the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 at our sites to facilitate communication between the employees and workers with senior management on matters related to social accountability. It was used to discuss the social requirements /issues with respect to Working Conditions i.e. wages & working benefits, working hours, overtime, holidays, festive holidays, incentives including the issues related to contract personnel. Matters related to child labour, forced and compulsory labour, employee health and safety, freedom of association and collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, compensation are discussed, and timely action is taken to solve concerns raised if any. • We encourage interaction between the employee, contractor workforce and management on health and safety issues to establish an environment that is proactive in recognising, treating, and Child Labour We have engaged a third party for verification of employee background. As part of the same, we verify the identification documents and academic details which also includes the date of birth to ensure that person meets the legal age requirement. As a policy, we don’t employee any person including contractors below 18 years of age and thus zero tolerance of child labour is practiced in the recruitment process. While engaging contract workers at site, the induction document includes contractor details such as Personal ID specifying Date of birth to ensure that the minimum age requirement is fulfilled. Only after verification of these documents, the contractor workers can work at site. We also endeavour to promote such practices in vendor organizations and will not work with any such organization that indulge in child labour and / or unfair labour practices. There is a remediation procedure to provide remedial actions if child labour and young workers are used within the company or by suppliers. Child labour is a critical issue that requires diligent attention and proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of children working in factory premises. HSE committee meets once in a quarter at every site to discuss health and safety performance and review statutory compliance. • Canteen committee is formed across all our locations to monitor the operations of canteen.
