Discovering the joys of Chemistry
7 Jan 2020
An eager and curious group of high school students from Sanskriti School recently visited the Sai Life Sciences R&D centre in Hyderabad to get a first-hand feel of the facilities, interact with the scientists and understand the work they do.
As a company committed to building a better ecosystem of scientific talent, Sai Life Sciences regularly hosts student groups from various educational institutions across the state. The objective of these excursions is to inspire young minds about the possibilities of chemistry and its role in discovering new lifesaving medicines.
Speaking about her visit, a student said, “This has been an eye-opening experience! It helped me visualize what we learn at school, while also getting exposed to many things that we don’t normally learn about!”
Educational tours like these help students get an exposure to the pharmaceutical industry, learn about the various functions in pharmaceutical companies, and spark ideas for potential future career choices.
“Children showed a lot of interest in the analysis and instrumentation. They were eager to know which reactions were running in the vessels and were curious to how we confirm that a reaction is complete” said Ganesh Yaddanapudi, Senior Director, Process R&D, about his interaction with the students.
The Sai team shared their personal experiences on choosing chemistry as profession, and enthusiastically answered many thought-provoking questions that students asked during the tour.
“The chemical industry is not only about pipettes and coloured solutions, as we commonly perceive it to be. We got to know many new things, thanks to our visit today.” said one of the students.
