Sai Life Sciences’ Unit 2 and Unit 4 in India Receive Zero Waste to Landfill Platinum Certification
7 Jul 2026
Sai Life Sciences’ R&D and manufacturing units—Unit 2 and Unit 4—in India have been awarded the Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWtL) Platinum Certification by TUV Nord India, an independent agency that certifies organizations against globally recognized zero waste standards. The certification recognizes the company’s strong waste management practices and commitment to advancing a circular economy.
Together, Unit 2 and Unit 4 divert more than 95% of the waste they generate from landfills. This is achieved by prioritizing reuse, recycling, and co-processing, with 12.30% of waste reused, 56.92% recycled, and 25.59% co-processed. These practices reduce dependence on virgin raw materials while recovering valuable materials and energy from waste.
To achieve these outcomes, Sai Life Sciences has strengthened its waste management practices. This includes better segregation of waste at the source, improved systems to track waste from generation to final disposal or recovery, regular employee training on responsible waste handling, closer collaboration with authorized waste management partners, and continuous improvements to operational processes. Together, these measures have improved resource efficiency, increased waste recovery, and minimized the amount of waste sent to landfills.
The environmental benefits of these efforts have been significant. Independently verified assessments show that Sai Life Sciences' waste management initiatives have avoided 2,085 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions, contributing to a 2% reduction in Scope 3 emissions. Emissions from the "Waste Generated in Operations" category have been reduced by 84%, highlighting the positive impact that responsible waste management can have on climate action.
This certification has enabled us to strengthen our waste management system across the entire value chain, providing end-to-end visibility and assurance of responsible waste handling, recovery, and disposal practices, including those followed by our final waste management vendors.
The Zero Waste to Landfill Platinum Certification reflects Sai Life Sciences' continued commitment to integrating sustainability into its operations. By reducing waste, maximizing resource recovery, and advancing circular waste management practices, the company is strengthening its environmental performance while supporting its broader sustainability goals.
