Sai Life Sciences Establishes Integrated Cell Permeability Platform to Accelerate Drug Discovery
22 May 2026
Sai Life Sciences has developed an integrated cell permeability platform to support drug discovery through automation and scalable high-throughput screening. The system enables the processing of up to 90 compounds per day with minimal manual intervention, facilitating rapid assessment of permeability during early discovery.
Cell permeability is a critical determinant of drug disposition, influencing membrane transport, oral absorption, and overall bioavailability. The platform supports both standard permeability assessment and transporter-mediated efflux characterization using established in vitro models, including Caco-2, MDCK, and transporter-engineered systems such as MDR1 and BCRP.
A key feature of the platform is its end-to-end automation, encompassing sample handling, assay execution, and preparation for downstream bioanalytical workflows. This integrated framework reduces manual dependency, improves throughput consistency, and enhances data reproducibility.
The platform enables generation of high-quality permeability datasets at scale, supporting screening cascades with improved turnaround time. This capability strengthens integrated drug discovery efforts by providing robust data to guide compound prioritization and optimization.
Overall, the automated permeability platform supports seamless integration with medicinal chemistry and DMPK activities, enabling informed decision-making and accelerating progression of drug discovery programs.
